Iran ready to hold talks in win-win situation: Salehi

iran’s foreign minister ali akbar salehi

Iran's Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi has once again reiterated the Islamic Republic’s readiness to hold negotiations on the country’s nuclear energy program in a win-win situation.

“We have repeatedly expressed our readiness and announced that we are ready for talks in a win-win situation,”‌ Salehi told ISNA on Saturday.

He added that Iran has never lost the “opportunity for diplomacy.”‌

The Iranian minister emphasized that the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has asserted that Iran's nuclear energy program is peaceful, saying, “If there is any problem today, it is the problem of the West and the US.”‌

Addressing the opening ceremony of the 16th NAM Summit in Tehran on August 30, Ayatollah Khamenei said Tehran considers the use of weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons, to be an “unforgivable sin.”‌

“The Islamic Republic of Iran considers the use of nuclear, chemical, and similar weapons to be a great and unforgivable sin,”‌ the Leader stated.

The United States, Israel and some of their allies have repeatedly accused Iran of pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program with the Israeli regime repeatedly threatening Tehran with a military strike to pressure it to halt its nuclear energy work.

Iran rejects the allegations, arguing that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it is entitled to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
