Iran to publish cultural book of records

Iranian journalist and scholar Sayyed-Mortaza Mirseraji has proposed the idea of publishing a multilingual book comprising cultural, moral and spiritual records.

Titled Al-Khayrat, the book is supposed to be presented as a rival for Guinness Book of World Records.

The Iranian scientific and religious journalist has registered his plan at the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

Mirseraji has written a number of books about the 12th Shia Imam. He also writes for Iran’s Daneshmand Magazine.

Al-Khayrat which means 'good and decent deeds' in Arabic is planned to be an encyclopedic source for books, movies and organizations which are aimed at spreading cultural and moral records in the world.

Mirseraji’s proposed book will feature some examples of cultural and moral records such as the highest number of books written by an author and the longest duration of university professorship.

”In order to have their names registered in the Guinness Book of World Records, people do useless and imprudent actions and Guinness motivates them to even endanger their life, while Al-Khayrat will include records of people who carry out praiseworthy actions which aim at serving the humankind,”‌ said Mirseraji.

Mirseraji also invited people from all religions, ethnic groups and genders to contribute to this cultural project.
