The Concept of Anti-disaster Hotel, Ark Hotel

The concept of Ark Hotel was built to cope with flood disaster due to rising sea surface. When floods occur, Ark Hotel may float in sea water so as to save people who are in it. In these conditions, a hotel with shell-shaped design is also still able to provide the energy for residents inside the hotel because there are lots of trees.

In addition to cope with floods, earthquake-resistant Ark Hotel. The architects say, the framework and design of the hotel is able to spread the weight evenly so that it can secure the population of the earthquake disaster that may occur. Ark Hotel also has solar panels and rain water reservoir which will provide energy and water naturally. The interior of the hotel are equipped with vegetation that provides good air quality and can be a source of food.

Ark Hotel exterior is made of a transparent material to ensure sufficient light. Light intensity control is done by a filter on the inside of the room. Meanwhile, a special coating is also used to ensure the quality of light entering the room. The hotel is built by the architectural firm Remistudio Russia and the International Union of Architects. Alexander Remizow from Remistudio said, “The Ark Hotel was built to answer the challenges that exist today. Built to support the independent living system.”
