At the meeting, His Eminence stressed that government officials should maintain their unity and solidarity, further reiterating: ‘Through identifying and utilizing the numerous and unique material and spiritual potentialities of the country in different arenas and through intensified labor and work, government officials should try their utmost to achieve the goals specified in the 20-Year Strategic Plan and go even further.’

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the capacities and potentialities of the country as mines and added that these mines have been disused or utilized partially. ‘In economic areas the capacities of the country are very high, and there are amazing capacities in scientific areas as well.’

Ayatollah Khamenei also touched on the cultural capacities of the country and added: ‘Similarly, in technological areas there are great and unimaginable capacities in the country, and the ground is prepared for great achievements.’

His Eminence stressed that in identifying and utilizing the capacities; the country should move towards the peak and should not settle for moderate levels of success. ‘It is very negligent of us if we do not try to utilize these capacities, and this negligence is a kind of oppression to everyone,’ he added.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that it is very important for government officials to maintain their unity and reiterated: ‘By unity, I do not mean ignoring differences of opinion and taste because differences of taste and expert debates will provide a way forward. But these differences of opinion should not stop national progress or cause different individuals to move in different directions.’

His Eminence advised all government officials to maintain their unity and harmony in making major decisions and added:

‘In the present conditions the fifth development plan is ahead of us, and this plan has placed many requirements on the shoulders of government officials. Fulfilling these requirements necessitates unity and harmony.’

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution reiterated: ‘Of course as the executive organ of the country, the administration shoulders the heaviest responsibility in the arena of executive affairs, and while taking national interests into consideration, everyone should help prepare the ground for the administration to implement executive decisions.’

Ayatollah Khamenei said that achieving the goals specified in the 20-Year Strategic Plan is one of the most important duties of the three government branches. ‘In certain areas we are ahead of the 20-Year Strategic Plan. And in certain other areas our progress is not sufficiently fast. Therefore, we should try to go further than the goals specified in the Strategic Plan through intensified labor.’

Elsewhere in his speech, His Eminence stressed the need for promoting the culture of labor and hard work in society. He further referred to the Subsidy Redistribution Bill and added: ‘I hope the Majlis and the administration achieve appropriate agreements in this regard so that after the Subsidy Redistribution Bill is implemented, the people can benefit from the decisions and efforts of government officials.’
