The Word knowledge mentioned in Quran (Part 2)
Point 7: Insight, the goal of the Prophet’s ascension (e.g.17:1):
Prophet has been given spiritual and physical ascension, purpose of the ascension was insight, to learn things.
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَى بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلاً مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَقْصَى الَّذِي بَارَكْنَا حَوْلَهُ لِنُرِيَهُ مِنْ آيَاتِنَا إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْبَصِيرُ
Glory be to Him Who made His servant to go on a night from the Sacred Mosque to the remote mosque of which We have blessed the precincts, so that We may show to him some of Our signs; surely He is the Hearing, the Seeing. (17:1)
Point 8: ‘Read’, the first word of Allah in Islam. (96:1-5):
The much proof that Islam emphasis on seeking knowledge is the very first Ayaah revealed was Iqra meaning READ.
اقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الَّذِي خَلَقَ
خَلَقَ الْإِنسَانَ مِنْ عَلَقٍ
اقْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ الْأَكْرَمُ
الَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ
عَلَّمَ الْإِنسَانَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْ
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. (96:1)
He created man from a clot. (96:1-2)
Read and your Lord is Most Honorable. (96:1-3)
Who taught (to write) with the pen. (96:1-4)
Taught man what he knew not. (96:1-5)
Point 9: Knowledge is light & brightness. (13:16):
قُلْ مَن رَّبُّ السَّماوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ قُلِ اللَّهُ قُلْ أَفَاتَّخَذْتُم مِن دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ لاَ يَمْلِكُونَ لأَنْفُسِهِم نَفْعاً ولاَ ضَرّاً قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِي الْأَعْمَى وَالْبَصِيرُ أَمْ هَلْ تَسْتَوِي الظُّلُمَاتُ وَالنُّورُ أَمْ جَعَلُوا لِلَّهِ شُرَكَاءَ خَلَقُوا كَخَلْقِهِ فَتَشَابَهَ الْخَلْقُ عَلَيْهِم قُلِ اللَّهُ خَالِقُ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَهُوَ الْوَاحِدُ الْقَهَّارُ
Say: Who is the Lord of the heavens and the earth? Say: Allah. Say: Do you take then besides Him guardians who do not control any profit or harm for themselves? Say: Are the blind and the seeing alike? Or can the darkness and the light be equal? Or have they set up with Allah associates who have created creation like His, so that what is created became confused to them? Say: Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the One, the Supreme.
Point 10:‘The Learned’ only know the secret of the universe. (e.g. 30:22):
Quran admires and praises the learned one, only the learned ones knows the secret of the heaven.
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ خَلْقُ السَّماوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلاَفُ الْسِنَتِكُمْ وَأَلْوَانِكُمْ إِنَّ فِي ذلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِلْعَالِمِينَ
And one of His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the diversity of your tongues and colors; most surely there are signs in this for the learned. (30:22)
Point 11: ‘Allah’, the first teacher. (2:31):
Allah was the first teacher he taught us from before.
وَعَلَّمَ آدَمَ الْأَسْماءَ كُلَّهَا ثُمَّ عَرَضَهُمْ عَلَى الْمَلاَئِكَةِ فَقالَ أَنْبِئُونِي بِأَسْمَاءِ هؤُلاَءِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
And He taught Adam all the names, then presented them to the angels; then He said: Tell me the names of those if you are right. (2:31)
Point 12: Knowledge, human’s privilege. (2:33):
Man has been given privilege due to the knowledge that he possess. Adam was granted knowledge by Allah which made the angels prostrate to Adam.
قَالَ يَا آدَمُ أَنْبِئْهُمْ بِأَسْمَائِهِمْ فَلَمَّا أَنْبَأَهُمْ بِأَسْمائِهِمْ قَالَ أَلَمْ أَقُلْ لَّكُمْ إِنِّي أَعْلَمُ غَيْبَ السَّماواتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَأَعْلَمُ مَا تُبْدُونَ وَمَا كُنْتُمْ تَكْتُمُونَ
He said: O Adam! Inform them of their names. Then when he had informed them of their names, He said: Did I not say to you that I surely know what is ghaib in the heavens and the earth and (that) I know what you manifest and what you hide? . (2:33).
