Few Words About Ayatollah Motahari

Imam Words:

“… Although his life was too short, he had left us with the invaluable heritage, which was a shining part of a clear conscience and a soul full of love toward the Islamic ideology. He started to teach and educate the people in the society through his skills in writing, and the powerful thought on the analysis of the Islamic issues and explanation of the philosophical facts, according to common people’s style without any sign of unrest. His written and oral works are all informative and can guide the people’s spirits. His positions and pieces of advice which originally came from his heart were full of true belief and Islamic ideology suits the mystic as well as the common people.” Imam Khomeini (Rh)

Childhood:

“I spent my childhood in Khorasan Province in 1936-1937 (1314-1315). All of the schools were closed and one could nearly say that this included the mosques as well. At the age of 15 or 16 I wished for nothing but for the theological studies.”

In 1937 (1315), after he passed the primary courses in the Seminary of Mashhad, he left for Qom where he initiated a new period in his life.

Professor Motahhari was one of the successful figures who had enjoyed the guidance of so many theological scholars and the divine spiritual leaders. If one looks at his fruitful life which was always accompanied with God’s remembrance along his martyrdom which is the most supreme level of man’s life, he would realize that Professor Motahhari had passed his evolutionary period under the shadow of the theological scholars through the purification of his soul. He did his best and finally he was the winner.

Having read the professor’s works, one could understand that his character had basically been formed by his father, the process which was done in his childhood and later he took the advantage of the other professors and teacher. Ayatollah Ol- Ozma Haj. Aqa Hossein Borojerdy, Ayatollah Mirza Ali Aqa Shirazi who was a pious scholar of Isfahan, Allameh Sayyed Mohammad Hosein Tabatabaee and Ayatollah Ol- Ozma Imam Khomeini were among his out standing professors who had influenced his character.

Here comes his words about Imam Khomeini:

“ … After immigration to Qom, I found my lost aim in another character. I thought that my thirsty soul would be watered through this character. Being under his guidance for about 12 years, when I recently traveled to Paris to meet him, I found out about some dimensions of his spirit so that not only I was perplexed but also more believing. Imam gave identity to our people. He gave them their real essence and the Islamic identity. He could vivify the people’s beleif, at the time it was lost and make them believe in themselves.”
