An exhibition of photos of Iran taken by Japanese photographer Eri Amano opened on Saturday at Iran’s Embassy in Tokyo.

She took the photos during her visits to the Iranian cities of Shiraz, Isfahan, Yazd and Kashan, Mehr News Agency reported.

“The 10-day exhibit has been organized to help familiarize the Japanese with Iranian culture and remove the erroneous images people have about Iran and Islam, “Amano said.

“In addition, the exhibit helps promote peace and friendship in the world for which these photos can be of great assistance. “

In Amano’s opinion, the world of Islam, especially Iran, has kind and hospitable people, and this has encouraged her to make more trips to Muslim countries.

Regretting that the western media regard Muslim nations as dangerous, the photographer said, “Many Japanese citizens are unfamiliar with what is going on in Islamic countries such as Iran. “

“Cultural exhibits like this will help provide a clear picture of Iran, “she said.

The exhibit displays portraits of women, children and the elderly.

Noting that many countries are facing an economic crisis, Amano said, “I would like to show that there are still people with low income but yet they still have warm hearts and smiling faces. I have always enjoyed watching these smiling faces. “
