Iranian official calls for immediate release of Iraqi journalist
An Iranian Foreign Ministry official has called for an immediate release of the Iraqi journalist Muntadhar al-Zaidi who is presently in custody.
Al-Zaidi was arrested last week when he hurled his shoes at President George W. Bush George who was addressing a press conference at the Iraqi Prime Minister’s office.
Hossein Noushabadi, the foreign minister’s advisor on Asian affairs, told Fars News Agency that if the Iraqi occupiers claim to want to establish democracy in the country they must interpret the action of the journalist a consequence of “democracy”.
He reiterated that Tehran’s stance on the journalist is his immediate release from custody.
