Keyboards dirtier than toilet seats
A new research by the consumer group Which? suggests that some computer keyboards contain more harmful bacteria than a toilet seat.
Microbiologists, studying keyboards in an office found one with 150 times the recommended bacteria limit and found that it was five times as filthy as a lavatory seat tested at the same time.
A keyboard is often "a reflection of what is in your nose and in your gut", said Dr Peter Wilson, a consultant microbiologist at University College London Hospital.
Wilson also believes that sharing a keyboard could pass on illnesses among office workers, BBC reported.
"Should somebody have a cold in your office, or even have gastroenteritis, you're very likely to pick it up from a keyboard," he said.
solution:
Shaking dust and food crumbs out of keyboards and washing hands after going to the toilet can keep the computer from harboring bacteria.
