US role in spread of terrorism in the world: Pakistan

pakistan

A number of terrorist groups have emerged in different parts of the world since the US supported the formation and activities of Al-Qaeda in Afghanistan to fight the former Soviet forces.
As a result of US policies in Afghanistan and also the involvement of Pakistan’s ISI in Afghanistan, the Taliban gradually found a strong foothold in Pakistan and created lots of problems for this country. Later on a group called Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) launched terrorist and military attacks against Pakistani civilians, religious minorities and the Pakistani army.
According to 2015 report of the Global Terrorism Index (GTI) 1,760 people were killed from terrorism in Pakistan in 2014, with most attacks occurring near the border with Afghanistan. The Pakistani government also faces a Taliban-led insurgency responsible for, among other things, the killing of 150 people, including 134 children, in the Peshawar school massacre.
The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) killed 443 people in 2014 while the Lashkar-e-Jhangvi killed 45. There are dozens of terrorist groups in Pakistan, however, only seven accounts for the majority of the killings. Insurgent groups include terrorists who fight for the separation of the Balochestan and Sindhi provinces.
The root of these groups can be traced to the invasion of Soviet Union of Afghanistan in 1979, when the United States on the pretext of fighting Communism supported a number of groups in the South Asian country.  Pakistan was too involved in Afghanistan. As a result, with the fall of the Taliban, a pro-Pakistani group came to power in Afghanistan. But after it was routed, many of the Pakistani Talebs formed the Tehrik-i- Taliban Pakistan, which became a security problem for the people and government of Pakistan.

The United States, Pakistan’s ISI and some regional Arab countries are to blame for the emergence of groups such as the Taliban. These groups are ideologically affiliated to Wahhabism whose birthplace is Saudi Arabia and is the official religion of the kingdom.

The US and other countries that directly or indirectly support such groups, financially, ideologically or through providing them with armaments must take a lesson from the past and stop their support of terrorism as soon as possible to allow peace and tranquility return to South Asia. The money spent on armaments for killing the innocent people must be spent for the development of South Asia. It will be possible only when some Arab countries as well as extra regional powers stop meddling in the affairs of this region.
