tomb of ebne yamin faryumadi

The historic village of Faryumad is 180 kms east of Shahrood on Monidar mountain slopes and has an altitude of 1230 meters above sea level.
Faryumad village is located in a valley where a river with the same name flows by. The village has a moderate dry weather in the spring and summer and is cold in winters.

From the viewpoint of history Faryumad is of high importance since it is situated on the way of the historic Silk Road and hence it houses numerous historic monuments.

The inhabitants of this village speak Farsi and are Shiite Muslims.
Just like that of many other Iranian villages, the economy of the village relies on agriculture and animal husbandry. There are three aqueducts in the village which are used for irrigating its farms. The main products of Faryumad are grains, fruits, and dairy. Women in this village are not only active on the farms and in the field of animal husbandry, but also make handicrafts such as rugs and carpets.
As it was mentioned before, this village is located in a valley; therefore it has a dense residential texture. Houses are mostly built in one floor and have flat roofs. Adobe, clay, and wooden beams were used in construction of the older houses, while the new ones are constructed of more durable materials such as cement, bricks, iron, and chalk.
Due to its natural features and historical value, Faryumad is considered as a tourist attraction site in Iran.

From among the most significant historic monuments of the village mention can be made of Faryumad Jame' mosque, the tomb of an Iranian poet, Ebne Yamin Faryumadi, mausoleum of Sheikh Hassan Jouri, the shrine of Imamzadeh Seyyed Ahmad, the soil dam named after Sheikh Hassan Jouri, Shah Abbasi caravanserai, 500-year-old plane trees, an old mill, and the Husseinieh of the village. Faryumad Jame' mosque, with its eye-catching decorations and tile work, dates back to the eight's Hijri century. This mosque is of high importance from the standpoint of art and architecture; and its stucco works are related to the three eras of early Islamic, Seljuk, and Ilkhanid.

On Sheikh Hassan Jouri we should say that he was one of the leaders of Sarbedaran uprising whose mausoleum is near Faryumad village. At the time of Mongolian savage invasion of Iran, various uprisings took place in many areas around the country. One of them was carried out in Sabzevar Region in Khorassan province and was led by Sheikh Hassan Jouri. Now, his mausoleum only consists of a small 3 by 4 meter room and a dome and no supecific decoration is seen there. In the vicinity of the tomb, remnants of the ancient city of Jour can be seen where traces of castles and fortresses are proofs of the significance of that city in seven hundred years ago. As mentioned before, Faryumad village has also some other historic monuments and attractions such as Shah Abbasi caravanserai which dates back to the Safavid period and also the mausoleum of Ebne Yamin Faryumadi. He was a famous Iranian poet born in the year 685 and passed away in the year 769 Lunar Hijri in his birthplace Faryumad. His poems usually deal with ethical issues and they are at the same time they are sentimental and smooth. And finally, tourists and travelers visiting Faryumad village take things such as pepper, sesame, and spice as souvenirs from this village. Access to Faryumad village is via a transit road from Shahrood to Sabzevar.
