Qur’an body holds annual general meeting

The Holy Qur’an Memorization International Organization, an offshoot of the Makkah-based Muslim World League (MWL), has held its second annual general meeting, under the chairmanship of Dr. Abdullah Al-Turky, the MWL’s secretary-general, who is also the chairman of the organization. Among those present was the secretary-general of the HQMIO, Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Bisfir, and several other members of the management committee. Among the topics discussed was the budget for the next financial year, confirmation of the minutes of the last annual general meeting, and confirmation of the previous year’s accounts, plus other administrative affairs.

A new mosque to be opened in Tatarstan

On March 22 a village Kurnali-Amza of the Nurlatskiy region, Tatarstan will witness the opening of a new mosque. There are over 100 people in this village. It was founded in the beginning of the 18th century. A new wooden mosque was erected with financial assistance of the local citizen Farid Miftakhov, who called it “Amina”, in memory of his mother –Amina Miftakhova. It is noteworthy that architect Rafik Bilalov who designed three mosques that are being built in Kazan- “Kazan Nury”, “Medina”, “Gadel”-comes from this village. The mufti of the Clerical Department of Muslims of Tatarstan Gusman Ishakov is invited to the celebrations of the opening.

Muslim preachers of all Russia visit the home Medina

A new program of religious enlightenment launched in a villageMedina (called in honor of Medina - the city of the Prophet, peace be upon him) of the Krasnooktyabrsky district of the Nizhni Novgorod region. Within its framework the village is attended by the Muslim preachers not only from the Nizhni Novgorod region, but also from other regions ofRussia. Guests come on Thursday, in the evening they read several lectures, then answer questions of the audience. On Friday before the collective prayer the preachers address the Muslims who come to the mosque with a Friday sermon.
