Imam Reza (A.S) and the Qur’an (Part 2)

imam reza (a.s)

Reading of Qur’an while travelling

Raja bin Abi Zahhak, one of the state officials of Ma'moon government who was responsible for bringing Imam from Medina to Khorassan. Besides presenting a long report on Imam's worship and its related issues, he mentions Imam's reading of the Qur’an: "he used to leave his bed and read the Qur’an, whenever he saw a verse containing the names of the heaven and hell, he started weeping and beseeched God to grant him the heaven and took refuge in God from hell's fire."[1]

The secret of Qur’an's eternity

One day Imam Reza (A.S) was explaining the greatness and glory of the Qur’an and its authority and miracles saying, "the Qur’an is the firm rope of Allah and firmest handhold, ideal and exemplary path; it guides and leads towards paradise and is the savior from the fire (of Hell). It is not corroded or worn out with the passage of time. Moreover, its continuous reading and oral recitation does not devalue and depreciate it, since, it is not made to exist for a certain age and period apart from other ages and periods. Instead, it is a proof and reason for all human beings. Falsehood cannot affect it in any respect. It has been revealed by Allah, the All Wise, and All Praiseworthy.”[2]
