Iran to launch production line of anti-armor weapon system: Vahidi

iranian defense minister brigadier general ahmad vahidi

Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi says the country will soon launch the production line of a new home-made anti-armor weapon system.

Vahidi said Tuesday that the new system, dubbed Dehlaviyeh, is manufactured by the Defense Ministry’s Aerospace Industries. He did not, however, elaborate on the system.

In August 2011, Iran officially inaugurated the mass production line of anti-armor rockets to destroy tanks, armored vehicles and enemy's ammunition depots.

The 73-millimeter portable rocket has a warhead which can destroy targets at a distance of 1,300 meters.

Over the recent years, Iran has made important breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly made clear that its military might is merely based on the nation's defense doctrine of deterrence and poses no threat to other countries.
