deputy head of the iranian armed forces general staff brigadier general mostafa salami

Deputy Head of the Iranian Armed Forces General Staff Brigadier General Mostafa Salami says foreign forces are not able to provide security for the regional countries.

“Foreign and Transregional forces cannot provide security and peace for regional countries,”‌ Salami said on the sidelines of the 10th joint Iran-Oman military committee in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

“Wherever foreigners have gone, insecurity and instability has ensued,”‌ the Iranian commander added.

“The presence of foreign forces in the region, including Iraq and Afghanistan, over the past several years has led to the spread of insecurity and massacre of innocent people in the region,”‌ Salami said.

Referring to Oman as a friendly and neighbour country, Salami said interaction between the Iranian and Omani armed forces is necessary for providing security in this strategic region.

The Iranian commander evaluated the military meeting between Iran and Oman as positive and said, “One of the good results of these meeting which began 10 years ago is the reduction of tension between the two countries’ fishermen.”‌

The 10th Iran-Oman joint military committee was co-chaired by Brigadier General Salami and Brigadier Rashid bin Saif al Sheedi, Assistant Chief of Staff for Omani Armed Forces.
