Iranian film warmly received in Kazan

Iranian filmmaker Habibollah Bahmani’s Apple and Selma has been warmly received in the 2011 edition of Golden Minbar International Film Festival.

Bahmani’s film which was screened on September 8, 2011 as part of the festival was well received by the film lovers, journalists and critics, Mehr News Agency reported.

Apple and Selma was also discussed during a press conference attended by the cast after the film’s screening.

Kazan International Festival of Muslim Cinema also known as the Golden Minbar International Film Festival is held as a place for regular meetings and an exchange of experience between filmmakers of Russia and Islamic countries of the world.

Organized as an annual forum of cinematographers in 2005, the 2011 edition of the festival hosted directors from different countries such as Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Russia, the UK and the US.

This year’s festival was held from September 6 to 11 in an attempt to create an objective representation of Islam and Muslims in Russia and the international community.
