Iran decries arms use against humans

iranian president mahmoud ahmadinejad

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has lashed out at global powers over the use of weapons against humanity, emphasizing that they are nearing the end of their time.

"Those who have nothing but weapons to manage the world are reaching their final point and have nothing [worthy] to say," IRNA quoted President Ahmadinejad as saying in a meeting with families of martyrs of the eight-year Iraqi imposed war on Iran in the northern Iranian province of Alborz on Tuesday.

He added that all evil thoughts have suffered defeat against the logic of the Iranian nation, saying all countries have now focused their attention on Iranians.

The Iranian chief executive emphasized that no power has the capability to make the altruistic Iranian nation to yield to them.

"Communist systems and other schools of thoughts in the world are declining and facing impasse," the Iranian president noted.

Meanwhile, in a separate meeting with intellectuals and managers of Alborz Province on the same day, President Ahmadinejad said Iran is on the threshold of a historical leap in a variety of fields.

He stressed the importance of drawing an "Iranian-Islamic" model of planning in efforts to guide the nation away from the current Western-based path.

"We plan to set a system and develop an Islamic and Iranian model for planning…We don't want to become a country similar to Western states," he underlined.

The Iranian president expressed confidence that 99 percent of the Iranian nation would resoundingly say no "if a referendum were held in Iran to ask the citizens whether they wanted to have a country just like the Western states in the future."
