Attack on Iran will have unthinkable outcome for Israel: Iran diplomat

Iran’s Ambassador to France Ali Ahani says any Israeli military aggression against Iran will have unthinkable consequences for the Tel Aviv regime.

Iran does not believe the Israelis saying they would launch strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, said Ahani in an interview with Reuters in the French capital of Paris.

Obviously, we are prepared for defense in any scenarios but we don’t believe that the Zionist regime (Israel) will proceed on this path, since such a path will lead to the worst unpredictable consequences not just for the Israeli regime, but also for the region, and the world, he added.

The Iranian envoy also pointed to Iran’s upcoming talks with the P5+1 (the US, China, Russia, France, Britain plus Germany), and said Tehran is optimistic about the prospects of the negotiations.

Ahani, however, reiterated that Iran will not negotiate on its right to peaceful nuclear energy.

Ahani also called on the global nuclear powers to adopt a realistic approach in their engagements with Iran, saying, "In this sense, recognizing Iran as responsible and a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty that insists on using these technologies purely for peaceful and civilian means and to continue its enrichment for civilian purposes can help get out of the current situation.”‌

On Thursday, the P5+1, chaired by European Union Foreign Policy chief Catherine Ashton, announced their readiness to resume the multifaceted talks with Iran.

Two rounds of comprehensive talks were already held in Geneva, Switzerland in December 2010 and in Istanbul, Turkey in January 2011.
