Ramadan traditions of Muslim countries on show in Tehran
Artists from 16 Muslim countries will display their works of art and traditions for the fourth edition of the Blessing for All Festival opening Sunday at Tehran’s Goftogu Park.
The festival was previously scheduled to be held earlier in the month of Ramadan, but was postponed to the final week of Ramadan and will be running until September 10.
The festival aims to make known traditions and religious rituals practiced by a number of Muslim countries during the month of Ramadan and to strengthen cultural relations among the Muslim countries, secretary of the event Mohammad-Hossein Hejazi said in a press release on Saturday.
A group of Iranian and foreign artists as well as cultural officials from Tehran’s Municipality are invited to the opening ceremony on Sunday evening, he said.
Artists are coming from Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Bosnia, Pakistan, India, Turkey and several more. Each night is dedicated to specific countries that give their performances from 9pm to 12midnight.
An exhibition of handicrafts will also be set up on the side section of the festival at the park, which is in the Gisha neighborhood of Tehran.
Several sessions are also arranged during the program in which cultures and traditions of Ramadan among Muslims will be discussed.
Different dishes of Islamic countries will be offered during iftar, the daily Ramadan break-the-fast meal. Chefs will also be setting up cooking workshops during the event.
Live musical performances, as well as exhibits where participating countries will be displaying their visual arts are arranged at the festival.
