Exquisite Iranian rug goes to UAE
Iranian artists have woven a 500-square-meter carpet worth $400,000 as the first step in a project to introduce the age-old art of Persian rug weaving to the world.
The exquisite, hand-woven piece measures 500 square meters and took 12 months to complete.
It is slated to be sent to the United Arab Emirates. The export is part of a plan to introduce the significant art to the world.
Italy, Spain, Japan, Lebanon, and various Persian Gulf states are the next destinations of the introductory policy.
Iran aims to make an appraisal of hand-woven carpets in a bid to restore the reputation of its carpet industry in domestic and foreign markets.
The goal is to make international customers aware of this exquisite Iranian art to enable it to recapture its exalted place in the world market.
