Iranian poet, vocalist Kamal Khan Hout dies
Veteran Iranian poet and vocalist Kamal Khan Hout has passed away at the age of 68 in his southeastern hometown Chabahar.
Known as one of the greatest figures of the Baluchistan folkloric music, Kamal Khan died on Sunday Feb. 22, 2010, Mehr News Agency reported.
The acclaimed musician was honored for reviving the traditional and age-old music of the Baluchistan region with his distinctive singing style.
Kamal Khan's efforts to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the region caused his epical and heroic performances to be very popular among Baluch people.
Although he never attended school, Kamal Khan could read and write, and used to write poetry as well as lyrics for his musical compositions.
