Speaking on the deck of the domestically designed and developed naval destroyer ‘Jamaran’, Ayatollah Khamenei the Commander-in-Chief of Iranian Armed Forces said on Friday that an atomic weapon is prohibited in Islam, further reiterating that Iran is not seeking to build a nuclear weapon.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution toured different parts of the destroyer, which is equipped with highly advanced anti-aircraft, anti-surface, and anti-subsurface capabilities. Ayatollah Khamenei described the achievement as promising and added that the achievement is the result of hope and reliance on God and that it will make the young generation more determined. ‘And this hope and determination is even more important and more pleasant than producing naval destroyers.’

His Eminence said that the domineering and arrogant powers of the world are hatching plots against the Iranian nation because it has put an end to their illegitimate interests in the country.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the resistance of the Iranian nation as a historic test and a great lesson for future generations.

He added that the failure of the global bullies in the face of the resistance put up by the Iranian nation has proven that if a nation relies on its capabilities and religious faith, no superpower will be able to subdue it.

The Supreme Leader said that the February 11 rallies made the enemies of the Iranian nation furious and desperate. He added that on February 11 tens of millions of faithful people voiced their hatred of the arrogant powers.

His Eminence said that the recent statements made by the US President and other US officials shows that they are disappointed and furious at the Iranian nation. He added that their old and nonsensical remarks about the production of an atomic bomb in Iran shows that the enemies of the nation are so desperate that they have resorted to repeating their old claims.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution reiterated that the Islamic Republic will not become emotional in response to these nonsensical statements. ‘We have repeatedly said that according to our religious principles and beliefs, such weapons are prohibited and haraam. And for this reason, we do not at all believe in an atomic weapon and bomb, and we will not try to produce one.’

He added that the Islamic Republic and the Iranian nation are only after provoking the spirit of dignity among the nations of the world and that their efforts have already awakened the Islamic Ummah and caused increasing hatred towards the arrogant powers, especially the US.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the claims made by the US and some other western countries about Iran's actions against its neighbors and added: ‘Our neighbors also know that these claims are unfounded. Through these divisive efforts, America and the Zionist regime are trying to divert the attention of the Islamic Ummah from the main enemies of the world of Islam, namely, America and Israel.’

Ayatollah Khamenei further touched upon the Islamic Republic's policies in regard to the Persian Gulf and said: ‘The countries of the region are our neighbors and brothers, and we believe that through collective wisdom, the Persian Gulf can be managed in a way that is to the benefit of all the nations and countries of the region.’

Ayatollah Khamenei also said that foreign countries have undermined the security of the region and stated that deception and causing discord are policies that are constantly adopted by the foreigners. ‘We hope that, as usual, their plots and deceptive tricks will be foiled through the vigilance of all the countries of the region,’ he noted.

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution further stressed the role of steadfastness and said that great projects such as the construction of Jamaran warship bring about an atmosphere of dynamism and enthusiasm. He also added that efforts should be made to maintain the same rate of progress in scientific and industrial movements.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that relying on enthusiastic and committed manpower will help make up for shortcomings and added that the shortcomings should be overcome by utilizing national manpower.

He also delineated the requirements and priorities of the Navy and said through constant efforts and determination, the Navy should reach a position that suits the great Iranian nation. ‘And I assure you that this can be done through faith and reliance on God,’ he noted.
