Taste (and Smell and Touch) the Good Life.

Taste the Good Life

When we think about our greatest life experiences, we tend to think of sights and sounds...but the longest lasting memories are those moments we also associate with scent, taste, and touch.

Next time you're in the midst of a moment that you really want to remember, try concentrating on how all of your senses experience it.

What does the moment feel like? What does it taste like? What does it sound like? Say you just watched your kid score the first soccer goal of her life. You're incredibly proud and you never, ever want to forget that feeling. Sure, you can record it on video. But how about recording the moment in high-definition on the most complex supercomputer of all ... your brain? Feel the texture of the dirt. Taste one of those half-time orange slices. Listen to the squeaky cheers of the other children. Smell the scent of the freshly mowed grass. Living life through all of your senses means more important moments etched into the deepest part of your being.

To get rooted deeply into the present moment, try this yoga pose -- it's a simple placement of the hands and feet, but it can also help get you in touch...with touch.

Sitting on the floor, bring the soles of your feet together and open your knees wide.

Maintaining this position with the legs, lie down on your back

Place your right hand on your belly and your left hand on your heart. Inhale as you feel your right hand on your expanding belly. Exhale as you feel the left hand on your expanding heart.
