Iran not to rest until terror defeated: Zarif

muhammad javad zarif

Iranian Foreign Minister Muhammad Javad Zarif says Iran will not give up the fight against terrorism until terrorists and their ideology are defeated.

“We should not and will not rest until those behind terror in Istanbul, Dhaka, and now Baghdad, and their ideology are defeated,” Zarif wrote in a message posted on his official twitter account late on Sunday.

More than 200 people lost their lives and 185 others sustained injuries in twin attacks in the busy commercial areas of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, early on Sunday.

The Takfiri Daesh terrorist group later claimed responsibility for the attacks, which it said were aimed at Shia neighborhoods of the Iraqi capital.

Separately, on July 1, a group of Daesh-affiliated armed men attacked a restaurant in the diplomatic area of the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, setting off explosives and taking a number of people hostage.

Police finally raided the restaurant to end the siege. The Bangladeshi army announced the next day that 20 civilians, all of them foreigners, had lost their lives. The six gunmen in the attack were also killed.

On June 28, a series of deadly explosions and a shooting attack occurred at Istanbul’s Atatürk international airport, leaving 45 people, including 19 foreign nationals, dead and nearly 240 others injured.

Iran has been offering advisory military help to Iraq and Syria — both of which are coping with a campaign of terror by Daesh and other groups.

On Sunday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said Iran will support Iraq in its fight against terrorists until their final defeat.

“All peace-loving countries in the world must make efforts to decrease such inhuman crimes by exerting pressure on the supporters of these extremist groups,” Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said.
