War of the Worlds
Next summer, the earth goes to war. From Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures comes the motion picture event of the year: Steven Spielberg"s War of the Worlds, starring international superstar Tom Cruise.
This movie is based upon the 1898 sci-fi novel by H.G. Wells. Previous adaptations include the famous Mercury Theater radio play directed by Orson Welles, a 1953 feature film directed by George Pal, a late 1980"s TV series, and a series of 1970"s Marvel comic book adventures featuring a post-War of the Worlds character called Killraven (also in film development).
This is the story of an invasion of Earth by Martians, whose powerful tripod attack vehicles are equipped with disintegration a ray unstoppable by the best technology humanity has to offer. Although Paramount Pictures will release this movie in theU.S., DreamWorks is also expected to be involved in the distribution to some unknown extent, whether it be handling international territories, or sharing in the U.S. distribution.
