Mourning over the Master of Martyrs, obedience to God

imam hussein (a.s)

Obedience means submitting to the divine prohibitions and injunctions as well as the divine laws and values of the world of creation. Obedience to God is what man has been asked to do. The acceptance of this obedience is sometime easy and sometime not. For instance, we should offer two units of morning prayers; it is a matter of obedience. We cannot question it. But it is easy to accept. Normally, no one would ask why the morning prayers are two units.

But the acceptance of some other matters of obedience is a bit difficult. For instance, one may refer to the narration of Abraham, the Chosen. The human reason cannot justify that a father sacrifices his son on the divine commandment. How can one accept that when God blesses a person with a son in old age after years of worship and supplication, he is asked to sacrifice his son at the peak of his love for him? There is no answer to this question except pure obedience to God and the Divine Providence.

Most of the jurisprudential commandments are based on obedience of God. In other words, it is difficult to understand their philosophy. Since they are commandments of God, we should submit to them.

Imam Sadiq (A.S) says: “The reward of a person who sheds tear on the martyrdom of Imam Hussein will be given by Allah…”

One reason for this high-level reward is that it is among the issues based on obedience of God. There are a number of similar examples. This is a matter of obedience that has been set by the Lawgiver. Also reciting supplication over martyrdom of Imam Hussein has a high reward.
