Quch-Soltan defensive Operation (June 7th, 1981)

Following considerable success achieved by Iranian combatants in an operation on May 26th, 1981 in Marivan area and the liberation Quch-Soltan heights, having lost their strategic position, Iraqi forces used the existing units to make an attack on June7th, 1981 and recapture the lost objectives for pursuing the following aims: Capturing the strategic heights of the region, accessing to better defending condition, preventing the Iranian forces from cleansing the area of anti-revolutionary elements and finally inflicting heavy losses on Iranian forces to increase the Iraqi soldiers morale.

Combatants of two battalions from Kurdistan 28th division of Islamic republic of Iran's army who were responsible for defending the area showed matchless courage, resisted against Iraqi attack and made enemy withdraw suffering casualties and heavy losses. Major general Rasoul Ebadat, the successful commander of the west and northwest operational region, was martyred a day before this operation.

Result:

-More than 300 Iraqis soldiers were wounded and killed and 170 others were taken captive.

-8 tanks and a number of light weapons were destroyed.

-A considerable number of enemy’s weapons and equipment were confiscated.
