Actress Mehri Mehrnia dies at 93

Veteran actress Mehri Mehrnia died on Wednesday in a Tehran hospital. She was 91.

Mehrnia was born in 1915 in Savadkuh, Mazandaran Province. She began her artistic career when she was 33 and entered the world of cinema with the film “Mommy’s Boy.” She performed in over 40 movies during her 50 year career.

“Adobe and Mirror,” “Peace at Presence of Others,” “Inner Monster,” “The Bus,” “Trousseau for Robab” and “The Blue Veil” are among the movies in which she performed.

Mehrnia was honored in a ceremony held at Tehran Theater Complex in November 2006 incidentally marking her 90th birthday.

She had been living in a nursing home for the past few years.

According to the Association of Iranian Actors (AIA), her funeral procession will begin at the House of Cinema on Sunday and she will be buried in the Artists Section of Tehran’s Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery.
