Iran makes Tehran documentary

The Award-winning filmmaker, Shadmehr Rastin has made a documentary about the diverse presentations of Tehran in the Iranian cinema.

Brick and Mirrors includes interviews with a number of renowned Iranian filmmakers, including Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, Asghar Farhadi, Niki Karimi, Ebrahim Hatamikia and Farzad Motamen.

The filmmaker asks these directors their opinion about Tehran and the city’s presentation in their films and the films made by their colleagues.

The film also includes scenes from the films made by Masoud Kimiaei, Dariush Mehrjui, Ali Hatami, Abbas Kiarostami and Ebrahim Golestan before and after the Islamic Revolution.

Brick and Mirrors is part of a cultural project called ‘Tehran Reflected in Arts’ which explores the way the Iranian capital has been presented in poetry, literature, photography, theater, sculpture and painting.

Scriptwriter and filmmaker Shadmehr Rastin has received the Best Screenplay Award for So Simple (directed by Reza Mir-Karimi) at the 2008 Fajr International Film Festival.
