An Iranian movie directed by Majid Majidi will be among 26 entries to compete for the top award at next month's 58th Berlin Film Festival (Berlinale), scheduled to take place in the German capital from February 7 through 17.

Majidi's 'Avaze Gonjeshk-ha' (The Song of Sparrows) will make its debut at the renowned Berlin film fest.

The film features the story of Karim who is a worker at an ostrich farm in a suburb near the Iranian town of Shahriyar.

Karim is forced to leave his hometown and move to the city for work but several incidents take place which have a major impact on his life.

The movie features Reza Najie, Maryam Akbari, Kamran Dehghan and Hossein Aghazi.

Majidi's other films include "The Father", "The Children of Heaven", "The Color of Paradise", "Baran" and "The Weeping Willow".

Two years ago, Iranian film director Jafar Panahi got the Silver Bear award at the 56th Berlinale for 'Offside'
