There was a bomb blast in Qeytarieh district of Tehran at 7:30 A.M. on January 12, 2010. The blast led to the martyrdom of Dr. Ali-Muhammadi. Two other persons were wounded and losses were inflicted on a nearby building. The bomb was concealed in a motorcycle that was locked to a tree a meter away from the entrance door of Dr. Ali-Muhammadi’s home.

The then spokesman of the foreign ministry, Ramin Mehmanparast announced that there are pieces of evidence indicating the role of the United States, Israel and those opposing the Islamic Republic establishment in this act of assassination.

The public relations department of the University of Tehran issued a message of condolence following the bomb blast that led to the martyrdom of Dr. Ali-Muhammadi. The statement read that the enemies of Islam and the revolution must know that these bloods will day by day make stronger and more fruitful the holy tree of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.

The Basij organization also issued a statement describing martyr Ali-Muhammadi as a successful Basiji professor of the universities of Imam Hussein, Malek Ashtar and Tehran and condemned his assassination by anti-revolutionary elements. It further called on the judiciary to put on trial the agents behind the act of assassination as soon as possible.

Muhammad Javad Larijani expressed condolences and said that this act of assassination has unveiled the scheme of the criminal enemy and revealed that there are major conspiracies going on against the country’s progress, prosperity, dignity and capability and with the grace of God this plot will be nullified like the other ones. He also expressed concern that the assassination may be the starting point for launching an onslaught on Iran’s scientific capabilities.
