The sixth International Exhibition for Gold, Jewelry, Precious Stones, Clock and Watch has been held in the Iranian capital, Tehran, Press TV has reported.

Over 130 Iranian companies and five foreign representatives presented their works at the exhibition that kicked off on February 13.

The international pavilions were representatives of the companies from the countries such as Turkey, Thailand and Switzerland.

Gold, silver and various kinds of gems and jewels in different karats were showcased at the exhibition held at Tehran's Permanent International Fairground.

While Iran’s 18 Karat gold is made up of around 75 percent gold and 25 percent of other metals, most European countries and the United States use 14 Karat Gold which is made up of 58.5 percent of gold and 41.5 percent of other metals.

The exhibition will seek to create competition in production and export of the precious metals, the executive director of the exhibit Masoud Attarian had earlier said.

“The exhibit aims to help the producers and exporters and service providers get acquainted with modern equipment and technologies of gold and jewelry and introduce Iranian products," he also stated.

The displaying program of Tehran’s International Gold, Jewelry Exhibition 2014 will continue until February 16.
