REM are the secret headliners of an Oxfam charity gig at London"s Hammersmith Apollo on 14 September according to the NME.

Acts that were already announced for the Make Trade Fair LIVE event include Razorlight, Jamelia and actress turned singer-songwriter Minnie Driver.

The organizers also said that very special international artists would headline the gig - the NME claims that this refers to REM.

This concert follows on from Oxfam"s Fairplay concert in 2002 which saw Chris Martin, Noel Gallagher and Ms Dynamite perform to raise awareness and funds for the Make Trade Fair campaign.

REM"s new album, "Around the Sun", is due for release on 4 October.
