LocationTanta University is located in Tanta city, capital of Gharbia governorate, with a distance of 90Km from Cairo, and 120 Km from Alexandria, and it’s very well known by textile industries at El_Mahala El_Kobra, and the university is under the direst scientific supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education.

UniversityOverview

In the beginning, the university of Tanta started with the faculty of Medicine in 1962, and afterwards, it was the foundation of the faculties of Science, Education at Tanta, Agriculture at Kafr el Sheikh and the faculty of Engineering in 1977, then the faculty of law in 1981, then the high institute of Nursing and the faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1982, then the faculty of Agriculture at Tanta 1992, and finally the faculty of Physical Education in 1994.

Facultyof Science :( foundedin 1973-1974)The Science student obtainsafter an 8 semesterstudythe degree Bachelorof Science (B.Sc.)in Science sciences.The Faculty offersthe opportunityto obtain Diploma, Masterand Ph.D. degreesin various specializationsinthe mentioned departments.
Facultyof Medicine: The Faculty of Arts was founded in 1976-1977. The Arts student obtains after a 8 semester study the degree Bachelor of Arts (B.Sc.) in Arts sciences. The Faculty offers the opportunity to obtain Diploma, Master and Ph.D. degrees in various specializations in the mentioned departments. In 1995-1996 the number of undergraduate studies was 10422, the faculty staff members are now 79.

FacultyofNursing:(founded in 1982/1983) The Faculty of Nursing student obtains after a 10 semester study the degree of Bachelor of Nursing. The Faculty comprises the Departments of Medical and Surgical Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing, PediatricNursing,NursingServicesAdministration,CommunityHealthNursingandPsychiatric Nursing.

Faculty of Pharmacy :( founded in 1976 -1977) The Pharmacy student obtains after a 10 semester study the degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Pharmaceutical sciences. The Faculty of Pharmacy comprises 8 departments, which include: Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical analytical chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacognosy, Microbiology, Pharmacology & Toxicology and Clinical Pharmacy.
Facultyof Education: (founded in 1969-1970) The Education student obtains after a 8 semester study the degree Bachelor of Education (B.Sc.) in Education sciences. The Faculty offers the opportunity to obtain Diploma, Master and Ph.D. degrees in various specializations in the mentioned departments.
Faculty of Commerce: Founded in 1973.Offers Bachelors, Higher Diploma, Masters and Ph.D. degrees in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics and Applied Statistics.(Graduate degrees are also granted in Public Finance).In 1999 total student enrollment is 15500 in Tanta Campus, 6500in Kafr El-Sheikh and 978 Graduate Students. The faculty offers a special program in English for Bachelor Degree in the specializations indicated above (total enrollment in 1999 is 1250 students).
Faculty of Agriculture: (founded in 1992) the faculty is relatively new educational institution.
Faculty of Engineering:(founded according to the Egyptian Cabinet command in Nov. 1976) It has two branches. The first is in Garbyah capital Tanta city at the site of superbly. The second one is in Kafer El-Shiekh capital Kafer El-Shiekh at the site of Sakha. Both branches are in the middle of Nile River delta as shown in the map below. The region is one of the most industrially active regions in Egypt. The undergraduate studies started at Kafr El-Shiekh branch in 29 Aug. 1990, and started at Tanta branch in 18 Sep. 1991. The graduate studies started in the academic year 1997-1998.
