neynava inscription in shahrud

The world’s largest brick inscription named ‘Neynava Inscription’ has been unveiled during a ceremony in the Iranian city of Shahrud in Semnan Province.

Iranian minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Muhammad Husseini and head of Iran Majlis (parliament) Research Center Kazem Jalali along with a number of officials attended the ceremony held on February 9, 2013.

The inscription features the story of Karbala tragedy when Shia’s Imam Hussein (PBUH) and his 72 followers were martyred.

Created by Reza Nouri, the clay inscription which is about six meters long and 2.5 centimeters thick has been made during one year.

The inscription’s designs and applied symbols were inspired by the television series Mokhtarnameh, Nouri noted.

Sponsored by Shahrud Clay Society, Nouri has recently begun the designing of Imam Reza brick inscription’s project.
