Iranian diplomat discusses regional issues with Jordanian officials
The Iranian deputy foreign minister has said that Tehran is ready to send humanitarian aid through the Red Crescent Society to the Syrian refugees living in Jordan.Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks during a meeting with the Jordanian senate speaker, Taher al-Masri, in which the two sides discussed main regional developments such as incidents in Syria, Palestine, and Iraq.
The Jordanian official described Iran as an important and influential country in the Middle East and also called for expansion of bilateral ties in all areas.
Amir-Abdollahian also met with Jordan’s Foreign Minister, Nasser Sami Judah, during which he praised Jordan’s policy toward Syria and added that the main reason behind the complicated situation in Syria is foreign interference in the country.
Commenting on Iran’s consultations with representatives of Russia and China as well as Lakhdar Brahimi, the UN-Arab League joint special envoy on Syria, Amir-Abdollahian said that Tehran supports any plan which helps restore peace in the Arab country.
He also elaborated on Iran’s policies regarding Syria, saying that Tehran adheres to a political solution to solve the Syrian crisis.
On the Palestinian question, Amir-Abdollahian said that experiences over the last six decades show that the Palestinian people’s rights would only be restored through unity between various Palestinian factions and sticking to the principle of resistance against the Israeli occupation of Arab lands.
The Jordanian foreign minister also called for expansion of ties between regional countries.
He also voiced concern over the Syrian crisis and praised Iran’s six point proposal to resolve the issue, saying that his country has always been insisting on a political solution to the crisis.
