iran-iraq war, martyrs

Islamic Republic of Iran's army military experts' farsightedness in maintaining the beachhead in the west of Karkheh in Shush area and Karkheh Bridge, and the continuous presence of friendly forces in this area against Iraqis caused the development of these beachheads to be seriously taken into account. Iraqis mistake for discontinuation of operation and not relying on Karkheh River for defense was not justifiable at all. Therefore, it was necessary to exploit such tactical flaw. For this reason Hamzeh 21st   division   of IR1 army employing its first brigade defending in the area decided to launch a limited operation.

The limited operation of Tappeh Cheshmeh on May 1st, 1981 is one of the most successful limited Iranian operations which highly influenced friendly forces morale.

-More than 210 enemy soldiers were killed or wounded and 46 others were taken captive as well.
