Iran’s puppet show “The Earth and the Universe” opens Spanish festival

The Iranian puppet show “The Earth and the Universe” will be the opening event at the TOT Festival in Barcelona, Spain.

The show will have four performances during the festival, which will be held on the occasion of World Puppetry Day on March 21.

“In addition to the opening presentation, we have two performances scheduled for March 19 and another performance on March 20,” director Sabri mentioned in a press release.

She went on to say that she intends to introduce Pupak Azimpur’s book about the Iranian theater and Puppet Theater at the event.

The festival will be held from March 18 to 27 at the Poble Espanyol - Spanish Village - in Barcelona.

TOT stands for “Títeres, Objetos, Teatro” which means “Puppets, Objects, Theater”.

“The Earth and the Universe” by Zahra Sabri is an adaptation of seven stories taken from the “Masnavi” which is a series of 424 spiritual stories by Rumi.

This presentation received the jury’s special prize at the 12th Mobarak International Puppet Theater Festival in 2008.
