How to Create Folders on Your Ipad

ipad

Folders help organize and categorize information. IPads running iOS 4.2 have the capability of creating folders on the desktop which can then be used to store applications, photos, videos or other content.

Creating folders on your iPad is an easy way to reduce the number of screens you must scroll through when searching for an application.

1. Create a folder by tapping and holding down any application icon which you want to organize into a folder, until the application icon starts hopping up and down.

2. Drag the application icon on top of any other application icon which you want to include in your folder. This will cause the home screen on your iPad to fade. A folder display will appear containing both of the application icons which you touched.

3. Check the name that has been auto populated into the folder name field and change it if necessary. To edit the name, tap the name field and type in the new label using the keyboard on your iPad screen.

4. Continue to drag and drop application icons into the new folder. When you are finished adding applications to the folder, tap the "Home" button to exit edit mode.

Tips & Warnings

1. To delete a folder on your iPad, you will need to open the folder and drag the application icons out of it one at a time until the folder is empty. When you drag the last item out of the folder, the folder itself will disappear.

2. A folder can hold up to 12 applications.
