Almonds are of two types, bitter Almond and sweet Almond. The sweet variety is available in thin-skinned and thick-skinned. The bitter variety of almonds contains an ingredient known as prussic acid, a deadly poison. Therefore, they should not be used for eating purpose but they are used for extracting oil.
