Global cultural awareness a necessity: Ahmadinejad

ahmadinejad

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that “awareness of international cultural norms is essential for the survival of a nation and the development of human accomplishments.”

During the closing ceremony held yesterday morning at the International Book Fair, he added, “As the human body needs air to survive, the human spirit also requires a cultural breathing space.”

"Only those nations have a lasting impact on the global community, who try to raise and extend the knowledge and human cultures,” Ahmadinejad noted.

The root of human problems is intellectual and cultural deviations, and until the world cultural environment is unhealthy, the other areas like political and economic relations will not improve in the world, he added.

Ahmadinejad pointed out that ""today, the great mission of the Iranian nation is creating transparency and promotion of the numinous culture around the world, and this is something that the world really needs.”

He advised publishers and authors to have a global view because anything that happens in Iran has reactions in the world and today Iran is considered as a source of hope, and therefore all the world is focusing on developments in Iran.

He added that government is ready to support publishers and provide special facilities and organizations to improve the process.

Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Seyed Mohammad Husseini, was also present at the meeting.

During the celebrations Husseini and Ahmadinejad also appreciated last year’s designated publishers
