Hoj. Dr. Mohammad Mofateh, the
skillful scientist and philosopher, was born in 1307 (1928) in Hamedan. He completed his
primary education there in Akhund Mollah Ali Hamedani’s school. And after a while he
left for Qom Seminary and he enjoyed the classes of Hazrat-e Ayatollah Ozma Sayyed
Mohammad Hojat Kuh Kamari, Ayatollah Ozma Haj Agha Hossein Tabatabee Borigerdy and
Ayatollah ozma Haj Sayyed Ruhollah Moosavi Khomeini (Rh) , Hazrat Ayatollah Sayyed Mohamad
Mohaqeq and Hazrat Allameh Sayyed Mohamad Hosein Tabatabee, (the author of “Tafsir-al
Mizan”).

Furthermore he was teaching the high levels of
divine law, principles and philosophy

he was also studying the new science till he was successful enough to be granted the Ph.D.

of philosophy. After finishing his
studies in the Qom Seminary, since he was needed in Tehran, he left for it. Like his
colleague Professor Motahary, he started to teach the university students in 1348(1969).
He was experienced enough in teaching because he was the teacher of a high school in Qom
as well. Doctor Mofateh had a resume full of political activities, especially in the month
of Ramadhan and Moharram and Safar. Although he was a professor of the university, he
never gave up the religious Programs.

So, due to the mentioned activities, holding
sessions and performing the prayer in “Qoba Mosque” he was put into the jail in
1354 (1975) and the men of regime closed the door of the mosque. Certainly, it was not the
first time because since he was in Qom due to these activities he was exiled to Zahedan
Province. He performed the prayer of Feast of the Fast –breaking (Eid-ul-Fitr) in
1357 (1978) in Qeytariyeh in which about one million people took part and it was the
greatest schemata of early period of revolution. After praying he gave a very
revolutionary and crucial lecture and invited people for demonstrations of 17^th
and 18^th of Shahrivar (7^th and 8^th of September) whose
result was his arresting on 17^th of Shahrivar and he was prisoned for 2 months.

On 27^th of Azar 1357(Dec, 18 1978) at
half past nine A.M, when Dr. Mofateh with his two guards (Asghar Nematy and Javad Bahmany)
were in front of the building of Theology University, the imperialism’s hired workers
were already there and lay in ambush so, at first the two loyal soldiers were killed then
it was time for the main element. He was shot four bullets went through his head,
shoulder, hands and knees and he fell on the ground. He was taken to Ayatollah Taleghany
Hospital to be cured but it did not work. So he passed away at 12 A.m, on 27^th
Azar, 1358 (Dec3, 1979).

In the morning of 28^th Azar (Dec 19,
1978) his body with those of his guards were escorted from mosque of university passing
the American espionage den was carried to Qom and was buried there in the court yard of
Hazrat Masoomeh (SA)‘s holy shrine. He has written so many books among which we can
refer to the Translation of Tafsir Kabir Majmaolbayan, The way of thinking on logic.
