InDesign stored its preferences in a file that you can copy to other users, to ensure standard interface in workgroups. It offers its functionality through a variety of interface methods: palettes, menu options, and contextual menus, as well as through some navigation controls in the document window. Panes are the primary vehicle for accessing InDesign features.The variety of panes can be overwhelming, so InDesign lets you save different workspace sets that let you specify which panes to display and where in each set. You can move pane tabs to the side of your monitor screen to keep them accessible but less distracting. You can also move, separate, and combine panes into palette groups of your choice. Among new panes are the Bookmarks, Flattener Preview, Info, Pathfinder, Separations Preview, and States panes. The new Control palette is a great time-saver, grouping many functions into one palette, showing only the relevant options for different kinds of objects.
