Chazzabeh offensive operation (February 20th, 1982)

Following the seizure of the first barricade in Bostan region by Iraq on February 6th, 1982, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps prepared a plan to recapture the lost barricade and urged that the first brigade of 77th infantry division of the army be dispatched to the region to help them conduct the operation.

Chazzabeh operation was launched with the collaboration of Army and Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on February 20th, 1982 and at the early stages while recapturing the lost barricade, one of Iraqi barricades was seized as well. But due to Iraqis unexpected resistance and severe counterattack both sides suffered heavy casualties and losses and Iranian troops withdrew to the initial positions.

 Chazzabeh operation was conducted by operational headquarter of army 92nd armor division in two axes. Two battalions from Guard Corps and one battalion from army on the Nabe'eh hills axis, two other battalions from Guard Corps and one battalion from army on the Chazzabeh axis jointly performed the operation.

 Result:

- Enemy’s first barricade was captured and a considerable number of enemy’s armor units were destroyed.

- More than 2000 were either killed or wounded and 19 others were taken captive.

-11tanks and personnel carriers plus 6 guns and 7 vehicles were destroyed.
