The Trials of God

the holy qur’an

In Ayah 142 of Surah Al-A’araaf Allah (SWT) said: We appointed with Musa a time of 30 nights and then added 10 more. Because of the extra 10 days, people said: He did not keep his promise. The question is why God did not say 40 nights from the start? It is narrated from Imam Baqir (A.S) that God did not say 40 nights from beginning because the Almighty wanted to test the people.

In Ayah 35 of Surah Al-Anbia, Allah (SWT) said: We try you by evil and good and in Ayah 155 of Surah Al-Baqarah said: We will try you with fear, hunger, loss of assets and lives and shortages of food. The prophets came to warn people and ask them to repent in order to be saved but some nations did not accept this. In Ayah 59 of Surah Al-Baqarah Allah (SWT) said: We sent them misfortunes and humiliations from the sky. These are all trials and tests and the Islamic nation must be aware that sometimes Allah (SWT) will try them.
