Kheibar (Quch-Soltan) offensive operation (May 26th, 1981)

As mentioned, Iraq on December 18th, 1980 attacked Iranian heights situated on northwest of Marivan and seized part of Quch-Soltan's heights located in Marivan-Bashmaq road and gained a better observing situation over the road. So he provided facilities to support anti-revolutionary groups. Fallowing successful operation in the south and gaining relative successes to capture aforementioned height, secure Marivan-Bashmaq road, activate existing forces in northwest area and cleanse anti-revolutionary insurgents of the region, Kheibar operation was planned and implemented on May 26th, 1981.

This operation continued for two days and Kurdistan infantry division head-quarter of Iranian army conducted it. Kheibar operation can be considered as the most successful operation accomplished so far. The Result gained well proves the case.

Result:

-Some hundred square kilometers of Islamic Iran's territory seized by Iraqis was liberated and the strategic heights of Goude Khazinch & Ouch soltan were recaptured by Iranian forces and the Marivan-Bashmaq road was secured.

 -1200 Iraqi soldiers were killed or wounded and one hundred others were taken captive.

-A battalion from the 16th border guard brigade and a commando company   up   to   80   percent   were destroyed.

-Two fighters, nine choppers, ten tanks and personnel carriers were destroyed and a great number of weapons, vehicles & ammunition were a destroyed. A large quantity of enemy’s equipment was confiscated.
